# BRC-20 Fork: BRC-100

## What is BRC-20 Fork?

BRC-20 community and BRC-100 community has forked BRC-20 to BRC-100. The BRC-20 Fork aims to solve the current limitations of BRC-20: lack of programmability, Non-Turing-Complete, lack of scalability, and lack of DeFi. The fork will re-activate BRC-20.

1. BRC-20 Fork is a hard fork of BRC-20 protocol, like #BCH for #Bitcoin, #ETC for #Ethereum.
2. BRC-20 Fork is the first meta-protocol Fork.
3. BRC-20 Fork is actually an upgrade of BRC-20, and will introduce the programmability of BRC-100 to BRC-20.
4. BRC-20 Forked assets can participate in all the DeFi of BRC-100, like AMM DEX: <https://x.com/100Swap_io>, Stablecoin:  <https://x.com/100_Layer>, Farming, etc.
5. BRC-20 Fork will have all the BRC-20 tokens before the fork block, like $ORDI, $SATS, $RATS, $PIZZA, etc.
6. All the on-chain BRC-20 holders will receive the forked BRC-100 assets in the wallet, with exact same amount.
7. BRC-20 Fork does not affect the original BRC-20 assets.
8. BRC-20 Fork will be merged to BRC-100.
9. BRC-20 Fork has been activated at block #859490 on Sep. 2 2024.

## Who can receive BRC-20 Fork Assets

ALL the BRC-20 holders in the fork block: #859490 can receive the BRC-20 Fork Assets. If you hold BRC-20 assets:

1. in your wallet, you will receive the forked BRC-20 assets on the BRC-100 protocol automatically.
2. in the wallets that you can not control, like CEXs, Layer2s, etc., you have to wait for them to distribute them to you.

## BRC-20 Fork Rules

1. All the 4 characters BRC-20 tokens keep the same ticker, for example, for the BRC-20 "ORDI", the ticker is still "ORDI" in BRC-100 after the fork.
2. All the 5 characters BRC-20 tokens add the prefix "100", for example, for the BRC-20 PIZZA, the ticker will be "100PIZZA" in BRC-100 after the fork.
3. All the wallet addresses that are controlled by the third parties and not controlled by the user (like CEXs, Layer2s, etc), will not be distributed until the third parties is willing to distribute them to their users, to prevent the third parties from abusing user assets.
4. To distribute the user assets, the third parties can send email to <contact@inbrc.org>

## BRC-20 Fork is BRC-20 Upgrade

The BRC-20 Fork is actually an upgrade of BRC-20 and is not compatible with BRC-20. So we have the BRC-20 hard fork, that will be a fork of BRC-20 assets and will introduce the programmability (DeFi) to BRC-20 by the verified technologies of BRC-100.
